I love Morgan Pendragon. She’s probably my favorite villain in any series. She’s not “evil” — she’s broken. And justifiably so. She represents the dormant wrath of every woman put down by men as their feminine inferiors. I don’t think a lot of people, men and women both, understand how far we’ve come as a gender, as a minority. That doesn’t give us license to hurt men, but I know too many women terrified of the world simply because the world is filled with men. We’re stronger than we believe.

“[Morgan’s] a great character. It’s full of colors, and it’s a gift. At drama school, I always wanted to play dark characters, like Lady Macbeth and Cleopatra, so it was a dream. It’s not a clichéd role. She’s not evil. I see her more as damaged. She believes herself to be the rightful heir to the throne, but because she’s a woman, she’s denied the throne and she will do absolutely anything to get it back.”
